what is love
I was just reading, yesterday, the IMDB trivia page for Matrix Reloaded: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0234215/trivia
which says "The tractor-trailer used in the freeway chase scene has "Big Endian Eggs" written on it's side. This is a reference to Swift's Gulliver's Travels: "The Lilliputians, being very small, had correspondingly small political problems. The Big-Endian and Little-Endian parties debated over whether soft-boiled eggs should be opened at the big end or the little end," ("Big-endian" has also been adopted as computer terminology.)"
I had no idea what computer terminology it referred to, but then you link to something which appears to be related, if not exactly what that referred to. From the unicode article, about halfway through: "[...] in fact, early implementors wanted to be able to store their Unicode code points in high-endian or low-endian mode, whichever their particular CPU was fastest at, and lo, it was evening and it was morning and there were already two ways to store Unicode."
Meanwhile, as I typed the name of that movie, my boss asked me if I'd be buying that same movie. (For $14.99 at Best Buy, hell yes.) Things are coming together all too easily today.
