Reverse chronological order for these, which is the way I listen to 'em.
- Lidl (Afrikan Boy) An intriguing African-in-UK song; the iTunes version has cooler percussion but more boring lyrics.
- The Guitar (They Might Be Giants) I think I'm just a sucker for the "Lion Sleeps Tonight" chorus.
- A Night Like This (Caro Emerald) Beautifully Retro.
- Jenny from the Block (Jennifer Lopez) Inane, but catchy. Man, she likes show off her abs.
- What I Am (Marnie) A notably terrible cover from "Girls". I actually like the autotuning, but the breathy echo is horrible.
- Look Out, There's a Monster Coming (The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band) Pity the video is kinda racist as hell, because it's an intriguing song, quirkily haunting
- Turn Down For What (DJ Snake & Lil Jon) O MAN I can't get enough of this video. My only regret is that the MP3 doesn't have the hip-cocking shotgun klik-klak at 1:16 like the video does.
- The Moon Song (Film Version) (Scarlett Johansson & Joaquin Phoenix) Such a good film, and a sweet, tender, slightly shmaltzy song.
- Girls are a Waste of Gasoline (Ject) Super-indie track; a little bit too "Red Hot Chili Peppers" wannabe-ish, but the title line is so funny and jaded.
- Pharrell Mashup (Pomplamoose) Amazing one-take video, playing with video projection in extremely clever and visually appealing ways. Also a good song!
- Orange Blossom Special (Johnny Hiland) I'm not usually one for instrumentals, and the iTunes track is even longer than this one, but still-- catchy.
- Good Old Days ("Weird Al" Yankovic) I remember this from a tape I listened to over and over at camp before high school. It's weird how the nostalgia hint appealed to me even then.
- Mercy, Mercy, Mercy (Queen Latifah) My Honk Band is playing this song... I dig her version, if it's a bit too polished.
- I Feel Like I'm Fixin To (Country Joe & The Fish) Another tune my honk band is doing... interesting funny protest song.
- L8 CMMR (Lily Allen) Heh, wasn't expecting a retro-game themed lyric video for this.
- I Feel Free (Cream) A classic.
- Clocks (Coldplay) There are a lot of covers of this but the original is pretty good.
Michael Jackson would lay out tracks a cappella...
